My Bundle Of Joy.

She was a true blessing , send from All-mighty   himself. My baby was born on a sunny summer morning. Her little fingers clutched onto mine , with those twinkling blue eyes staring at the tears of joy that bounced off my cheeks. The cheeks were pink , and swirls of curly black hair outlined her chubby round face. At that moment , I felt a reason for my existence . The reason being her , my Martha.

"Mom! . How many times do I have to tell you .. wait a second , you have dozed off again haven't you? . MOM !! "

I woke up from my thoughts trying to piece back my past and present. The tall teen looming infront of me never seemed anywhere close to the baby I once held secure in my arms. Martha twirled up her curly locks and gazed at the mirror . She has turned seventeen today , yes ! it was my daughter's birthday .

I stretched myself and walked toward Martha. " I felt a bit tired after all the shopping honey . Are you sure that the dark forest is okay for the party ? . Oh! , will you tell me who all are coming over ? " I said.
" Yeah , about that . Five boys and seven girls. The cake is fine mama , but what about topping it with seventeen candles ? . " replied Martha .
" No honey , that would look cramped up . Okay then, I'll start with arranging the party supplies."

"Thanks ma ." She wrapped herself around me and planted a quick kiss on my cheeks .

Martha's slim figure endorsed the dress with grace .She wore her stilettos , towering high over than the rest of the gang. The cake was cut and she popped the first piece into my mouth , and then another into a boy's mouth . Later , I saw her in a warm embrace with that boy . She cuddled with him and laughed as she spoke.
The innocence that once poured out of Martha's words is nowhere to be found now. She is independent , adamant and at times arrogant . Maybe it's just an insecure mother speaking . Yeah , maybe it's just me and my stupid thoughts .

  1. I just love how you switch perspectives in your writings from the busy working teen in Mumbai to an insecure mother wanting the best for her daughter. You just amaze me.
