Okay , so you all must have heard about how facebook has impacted people all across. Almost every person I know , has an fb account . And most of the time they're busy posting pictures , and putting up statuses .
Facebook was started by Mark Zuckerberg , with a good intention - to connect with people. But this 'connection' has now become an addiction. My friends , are avid facebookers and all they do is put up pictures of them sitting pretty or pouting or standing with friends. Oh ! but they do put statuses up too . Statuses like - I just opened the fridge and found nothing to eat.
And I don't need any stats to prove that many people undergo depression due to Facebook.I myself have been through that. I mean , with lots of pretty faces and accomplisments streaming down you're home page , it sort of becomes annoying .And with this , those who have'nt achieved much in life , get easily disheartened.Especially , teens -who have just started to clear up a space in their world.
So to sum up , fb does bring about excessive emotions like depression and jealousy. But , why is it so addictive to those who are disheartened or depressed ?. Because you want to know more about the other person's life. You want to excavate deeper into their personal life and pulverize yourself for not being in that person's shoes. Now , isn't this emo , or what ? .
Here's something I saw in my fb homepage . A girl posts a very ' hot ' picture of herself in the mirror. Many people commented and her boyfriend comments twice but receives a 'thank you :) .' from that girl. His next comment was - ' Hey beautiful , how come you missed out on giving me a lot of emoticons . :( - how come you gave it everyone else ? '
See , even emoticons matter a LOT on Facebook . That makes it even more virtual.
Some people keep admiring and observing personal lives of those of whom they think are 'great'. And they post extravagant comments on the pictures that these people post.
So far , from what I've known - these people stalk the lives of the 'popular ones' - not because they are happy for them. They are trying to escape from their own lives - from situations that they don't want to face .Like , if you're mom shouts at you and you feel that you're life has become miserable. All you need to do is stalk the life of a person , who puts up a lot of 'happy pictures' of herself enjoying with her 'awesome mom and friends '. Voila ! you're put into a trance. And you forget about you're mom and why she had shouted at you.
This is an article to those who are addicted to facebook for reasons that they don't know. If you are on facebook , for a social cause. Or you want to express you're religious and political views - Facebook might just be one of the best platforms available , to voice out .
So get out there and enjoy the pleasures of the world . Face you're problems and blossom in you're personal life by cultivating you're talents to their best. Feel the raindrops trickling past you're skin and the wind gushing by - rather than gaping at people's personal lives.
That's brilliant esp so relevant after these many years.
